  • 16 January 2015 - Counter-rally against Pegida in Denmark Pegida, the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West movement, initially born in Germany, has now reached not only Denmark, but also the Flanders region in Belgium. From their Facebook page both these groups have launched new rallies in their respective cities, but some are ready to resist. The African Empowerment Center, ENAR member, has announced a counter-protest in order to show its support to the Muslim community.
  • 10 December 2014 - Soteria International on a new paradigm of conflict management: Concordia Einstein said that we cannot solve a problem on the same level on which it emerged in the first place. It means that the solution to a problem must be found in other places, moving different forces than the ones that generated it, but this kind of approach is rarely applied. Soteria International is therefore organising a conference in order to suggest a new paradigm of conflict management, based on the concept of Concordia, or coherence of the hearts. The event will be held in Copenhagen on 10 December.
  • 12 September 2014 - Denmark to decide on human rights: reaction by ENAR Denmark Two years ago, after criticism from the United Nations Periodic Review, Danish Parliament put together a Committee of Experts to advise the government on implementation of the seven human rights conventions, which Denmark have ratified, but not written into Danish law. Last month a split committee issued a 500 page report, where six experts advised Danish Parliament to implement six conventions, while other members were critical of the conventions. ENAR Denmark has actively contributed in the discussions at the Institute for Human Rights meetings and supported the six experts and the implementation suggestions. The government has yet to announce its evaluation of the report.
  • 21 March 2014 - Ahead of the International Day Against Racism, DACoRD had a meeting event about hate speech amongst politicians in Denmark. At the same time they celebrated the anniversary of the 75-year-old Danish Hate speech provision section 266 b of the Criminal Code. Read more about the event!
  • 21 March 2014 - Local ethnic minorities organisations in Aarhus (Denmark), in collaboration with the local labour organisation LO Aarhus, are celebrating today’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with a music event and speeches about the subject. More info about the event here!
  • February 2014 - ENAR Denmark submission in connection with Denmark’s mid-term reporting to the UN Human Rights Council NGOs expressed their disappointment about the fact that the Danish government has not submitted its mid-term report to the UN Human Rights Council as pledged. This contradicts the government’s declared intentions of cooperating with the UN human rights system in good faith and it sends a sad signal to other UN member states about the commitment of Denmark to the UPR process. Last but not least, the absence of a state report on the status of implementation of the 2011 UPR recommendations severely challenges the dialogue between the Danish state and civil society.
